About the College

Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkur (SSMC) was started in 1988 by the Sri Siddhartha Educational Society (SSES). Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkur was earlier affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. In 2008, Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education was declared deemed to be University under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Sri Siddhartha Medical college, Tumkur and Sri Siddhartha Dental College have been functioning as constituent college of Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education.

SSMC, Tumkur is located in a distance of 65 kms from Bangalore and is easily reachable in just over an hour drive by road. Sri Siddhartha Medical College is Recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI). It is an organization dedicated to establishing a centre of excellence in health care and improving the well-being of the community through quality programmes of preventive medicine, medical education and research. SSMC Hospital has a separate building for OPD and causality with independent departments for Medicine, Surgery, OBG, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, ENT, Dermatology, and Radiology. It has a 1,350 bedded hospital, fully equipped with 12 major operation theatres, in addition to minor operation theatres. There are separate structures for Pre and Para-clinical divisions, as well as for the SSMC Hospital. There are separate hostel facilities for UG, PG and NRI students with a mess attached to each hostel, which serves delicious vegetarian food. The central library has a separate building with a built-up area of 12,600 sq.ft. Playgrounds and games such as football, volleyball, basketball, cricket, throw ball etc. are encouraged for recreation. In addition to this, indoor games and a gymnasium are also available. Also, a new auditorium with state-of-the-art facilities is under construction.


Sri Siddhartha Medical College admissions are done as per the relevant regulations of the UGC, MCI, Government of Karnataka and other Statutory bodies Concerned. Admission in Siddhartha Medical College is made through an All India common Entrance Test conducted by the university called SSAHE AIUGET & SSAHE AIPGET.

For MBBS Admission in Siddhartha College, Tumkur 80 % of setas are filled by University Based Entrance Exam SSAHE AIUGET. In 2015, the total intake of Sri Siddhartha Medical College was 130, out of which 80% seats i.e 104 seats (General Merit 85 & SC/ST 19 Seat) were filled by AIUGET and rest 20 % by Nri / Management Quota. Similarly for BDS Admission in Sri Siidhartha Dental College, the total intake is 40 seats out of which 32 seats (26 General Merit & 6 seats for SC/ST) were filled by AIUGET. Sri Sidhartha Medical College Admission 2016 matrix can change as it is subjected to norms of Government of Karnataka & MCI Guidelines.

Admission in Siddhartha Medical College is subject to meeting the minimum eligibility criteria. Admission in Sri Siddhartha Medical College through AIPMT Counselling is not available.

Sri Siddhartha Medical College fees Structure is decided as per the guidance of Government of Karnataka. Students taking admission in Siddhartha Medical College through Management Quota or through Entrance Exam in 2015 had to pay approximately Rs.4,50,000 per year as tution fee and Rs 46,750 towards other Mislaneous fee. BDS Fee Structure in Sri Siddhartha Dental College is 3,50,000 per year as tution fee and Rs 46,750 towards other Mislaneous fee. Management quota Admission in Sri Siddhartha Medical College

Direct Admission in Sri Siddhartha Medical College under Management Quota, is restricted to 20 % of total intake which includes NRI Quota Admission too. The total number of management seats in Siddhartha Medical college in 2015 was 26 whereas management quota admission in Sri Siddhartha Dental College was restricted to only 8 seats.
