Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkur (SSMC) was started in 1988 by the Sri Siddhartha Educational Society (SSES). The college was earlier affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. In 2008, Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education was declared deemed to be University under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. SSMC Tumkur and Sri Siddhartha Dental College have been functioning as constituent college of Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education.
