BNU Kolar

Bengaluru North University (BNU) is a state university in Kolar, Karnataka, India, close to NH 75 in Tamaka. Through the 2015 Karnataka State Universities(Amendment) Act, which split Bangalore University into Bengaluru North University and Bengaluru Central University, the university was founded in 2017 by the Karnataka government. On September 21, 2017, the university was officially opened, and T.D. Kemparaju, a former Mangalore University registrar, was named vice-chancellor.

A commission recommended splitting up Bangalore University, which has over 600 affiliated colleges, in a 2009 study. C. T. Ravi, the government of Karnataka's minister for higher education, revealed plans to split 300 colleges from the university by establishing Bengaluru North University in 2012. There have been requests to implement the original plan or even to establish four institutions.

The government declared in May 2015 that it will construct Bengaluru North University and Bengaluru Central University, each with 200 colleges assigned to it, in accordance with the original recommendation. The legislation was approved in July 2015, and the university opened its doors on September 21, 2017. However, as of October 18, 2017, the government had not transferred any money to the university.

210 colleges are associated with the university. Constituencies for the Karnataka Legislative Assembly are used to determine affiliation with the three universities. All colleges in the following districts are affiliated with BNU: Srinivaspur, Mulbagal, KGF, Bangarpet, Kolar, and Malur Assembly constituencies in Kolar district; K R Puram, Pulikeshinagar, Sarvagnanagar, C V Raman Nagar, and Mahadevapura Assembly constituencies in Bengaluru Urban district; Gauribidanur, Bagepalli, Chikkaballapur, Sidlaghatta, and Chintamani.
