CEED Test Syllabus
CEED 2024 has been divided into 2 parts “A” and “B”.
Part - A
- Visualization and spatial ability:Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to measure understanding of 2D and 3D shape and object transformation and/or manipulation, as well as their spatial linkages, as well as knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific notions.
- Practical and scientific knowledge:To assess the candidates ability to apply scientific principles to everyday objects, promoting critical thinking and problem-solving for practical use.
- Observation and design sensitivity: The ability to detect and analyze hidden aspects in ordinary objects, people, situations, and events. Paying great attention to details, analyzing, reasoning, classifying, inferring, and anticipating are all examples of skills. Small changes in visual attributes and aesthetic outcomes are perceived.
- Environmental and social awareness: General understanding of environmental aspects such as climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources, and so on, and their consequences for a product, image, infrastructure, and environmental design. Awareness of the design's historical and cultural significance, the history of the designed artifact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design answers. Art, sculpture, and literary history.
- Analytical and logical reasoning:The ability to examine information, whether qualitative or quantitative in nature, and identify patterns within it. The ability to weigh other points of view, arguments, or solutions against proper criteria. Capability to detect concealed bias or preconceptions, as well as if evidence and argument support conclusions. Ability to utilize logic and organized thinking to choose which of several statements in a brief passage is the most accurate response to a stated inquiry. Data interpretation, puzzles, and patterns.
- Language and creativity:Understanding and use of Standard English. Reading comprehension and grammar understanding are required. Ability to think imaginatively about alternatives, discern unique options and think outside the box.
- Design thinking and problem-solving: Use of visual comparisons, metaphors, signs, and symbols. Understanding of complexity, the ability to detect issues, produce alternatives, evaluate possibilities, and select solutions.
Part - B
This part will have questions related to the following topics:
- Drawing:The ability to sketch products, people, or scenes with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.
- Creativity: The ability to look beyond the box and come up with fresh and different solutions.
- Communication abilities: The ability to explain concepts and ideas clearly using words and graphics.
- Problem-solving abilities: understanding of the user and context, knowledge of material attributes and their suitable usage in design.
No specific textbook or study guide is recommended for its preparation as CEED 2024 is an aptitude test. Candidates can, however, sharpen their sketching, rendering, and visualization abilities. Previous year's question papers are available on the official CEED website.
