COMEDK Exam 2020

COMEDK UGET or Undergraduate Entrance Test is a entrance test conducted by this association to B.E/B.Tech or B.Arch for colleges affiliated to KPCF which constitute of more than 120 colleges in Karnataka. Through this exam applicants can take admission to more than 2000 engineering and architecture courses. But for architecture students, they need to appear first for National Aptitude Test (NATA) then only they can seat for COMEDK. They need to follow the guidelines thoroughly so that they can be familiarized and adhere to the rules strictly.

For COMEDK 2020 (UGET) candidates from across the country can appear and the eligibility criteria have already come out. The exam is based on the triple test criteria: fair, non-exploitive and transparent to ensure merit based admission through a single common entrance test followed by centralized Online counselling as proposed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in TMA Pai Foundation Vs. the State (2002) 8 SCC 481, Islamic Academy of Education Vs. the State reported in (2003) 6 SCC 697 and PA Inamdar Vs. the State of Maharashtra reported in (2005) 6 SCC 537.

Comedk Eligibility

Engineering Course

  • Candidates need to qualify 10+2 or equivalent examination recognised by the Central or State Government and should include physics, chemistry, mathematics and English as compulsory subjects in the last 2 years of study for admission in B.E
  • For general category candidates should pass with a minimum aggregate of 45% and for backward classes it is 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually. Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Bio Technology or Biology or Computer Science or Electronics as one of the optional subjects.
  • Students interested in diploma subjects doesnot need to appear in COMEDK UGET 2020as there are no lateral entry admissions.
  • Applicants who attempted the COMEDK Entrance Test seeking admission to Engineering courses are considered adequate for figuring in the rank list.

Architecture Course

  • Qualifying exams prescribed for admission to B.Arch course 10+2
  • Candidates need to secure 50% marks in PUC in physics, chemistry and mathematics; for SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka need to score 45%.
  • General category candidates need to qualify 1+3 Diploma with mathematics as compulsory subject with a minimum 50% marks and 45% for backward classes
  • Interested candidates first need to qualify National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture or JEE Paper. For NATA applicants at least require cut-off getting at least cut-off marks in two individual components and also getting at least the qualifying marks in aggregate.

Comedk 2020 Exam Date

This year COMEDK 2020 exam date is 1st, August 2020, on Saturday in two shifts and will be conducted online all over India, across 300 centres for Engineering programme for around 20,000 seats which will be followed by online counselling. 1st shift will be held from 09:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 2nd shift is from 02:00 pm to 05:00 pm. Accordingly the Edit Facility which was scheduled from 18th June 2020 will now be provided from 12pm, 22nd June 2020 till 12 noon of 25th June 2020 to update test city preference, photo upload and academic details. COMEDK exam date has been rescheduled due to COVID-19. First it was scheduled on 25th July 2020 and then it is shifted back to August. Other reason beside the spread virus, the date changed due to the NEET exam date. As it was problematic for candidates to travel to their NEET centres after finishing their comedk exam, it was decided to postpone comedk UGET by a week.

The system of this consortium is said to be efficient and cordial. However in 2016 UGET was cancelled for MBBS and BDS seats. The Supreme Court banned all medical and dental entrance exams due to the execution of NEET-Phase I and II.Due to which only engineering exam was conducted on 8th May, 2016.

COMEDK UGET Entrance Exam

COMEDK UGET Entrance Exam is a state level exam for aspiring students who want to study in various programmes from different affiliated medical, engineering and dental colleges in Karnataka. The benefit of this exam is that it is open to students of other states also. Hence promising students from different states of India has the opportunity to study in the top educational hub of India. Karnataka is renowned for its distinctive engineering and medical college and many top colleges in India are from here. However there is a reservation of 50% for backward students. The consortium has ensured that only meritorious students get the opportunity to study in member institutions.

Comedk Exam Centre

The candidates can choose 3 COMEDK exam centres in the online application form. If for any reason the exam centre has to be cancelled and candidates who had opted the cancelled test city, they will be allotted a centre at another city by the consortium.They can choose the cities on first come first serve basis. However, it reserves the right to allot any other test city other than the city chosen by the candidate and the option to choose will be available before submitting the application form online, and if it subject to availability. Admission ticket and other Helpful Information

  • Online ticket will be available from1st May 2020 in official website under the candidate login
  • Candidates who will be appearing for exam must print out Online Test Admission Ticket ((Online TAT). And this TAT will not be send to the respective candidates through email/ post/courier
  • Without COMEDK hall ticketcandidates will not be allowed to write the exam along with other documents indicated. Also they need to keep TAT for counselling and until the completion of the Admission process
  • And have to ensure that the invigilators signs it

After taking the printout of TAT applicants need to check for the mentioned details/;

  • TAT number
  • Applicants’ name as mentioned in the form
  • Address and contact details as mentioned in the form
  • Candidates’ photo as given the application form
  • Test centre details
  • Test timings
  • ID proof details
  • Passport size photographs
  • General instruction of TAT
  • Printing online TAT will be inactive from 9th, May 2020 midnight
  • They must not laminate TAT or make any changes
  • As it is an important document it needs to be produced at the time of counselling

Exam Information

COMEDK Exam Pattern

It is a Computer Based Test (CBT) and is required for candidates seeking B.E admission. For the exam

  • Medium of instruction should be in English
  • Each correct answer will be rewarded 1 mark
  • There is no negative marking for wrong answers
  • However if there is a tie in the test score the number of wrong answer will be considered. Also other methods can also be employed to break ties
  • Total mark is 180

Comedk Mock Test

To make the candidates acquainted with the CBT, COMEDK mock testis available in the website. From the 6 different mock test for now only 3 are available and other will made available before they appear in the final exam on 1st August 2020.

How to start the Mock Test:

  • Go to website click on ‘mock test’ button to attend
  • Next press on the “Sign in” button, appearing on the “Login” Window.
  • Read carefully the “General Instructions”
  • For the next after finishing reading, click “NEXT”.
  • Read carefully “Other important Instruction” and the below-mentioned declaration
  • At last press on the checkbox and click on “I am ready to begin” button to start the test.

For Computer-Based Test (CBT)

For CBT candidate is required to sit in front of the computer terminal given to them in the exam centre. Right after logging in, they will receive detailed instructions for the test. If the candidates face any issues like mouse malfunction they will be given another buffer system as there are enough buffer systems available to tackle such problems. And for any of the malfunction, if time is lost, it will be taken care of as every second will be recorded in the server.

Comedk Instruction for the Candidates

  • They need to report 1 hour before the commencement of the test (12 Noon)
  • Examination hall will be opened half an hour before the start of the exam
  • On demand they need to show their TAT and Unique photo Id in original, and if failing to produce any of the objects they will be rejected for the examination hall
  • They are advised not to take any computational device in the hall
  • Any applicants who couldnot appear in the allotted date, there will no second date
  • Read the COMEDK question paper before writing
  • It is mandatory to bring their recent passport size photograph and at the back of the photograph, name and TAT number should be mentioned
  • Candidates must sign on the TAT in the presence of the invigilator right after its verification
  • Biometric recording will be done before and during the test session
  • They cannot go out of the class for any reason

No, this test is open to all eligible students in the country.
Medium of Examination will be English Language only.
KCET question paper cover questions from Biology, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.

You can change your answer any number of times before completing the session for the exam online.
In Online Computer based test, the questions will appear on computer screen along with the answer options. Instruction page will also be displayed before the actual test begins. The time of reading of instructions will not be part of examination duration.
SC/ST and OBC candidates belonging to Karnataka are only eligible to get the benefit of lower eligible qualifying marks.
Selection of seats for the Under Graduate course in Member Institutions is based on merit, taking into account the performance of the candidate in COMEDK UGET-2021. COMEDK entrance test, publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralized counselling (Single window). The details of the arrangement made will be published in due course on our website, www.comedk.org.
The course list provided in the website is limited to only those courses offered by COMEDK Member Institutions.
You have to make online payment of Rs.2500 plus convenience charges (Rs.500 per clarification) along the relevant details as mentioned in the online form.
You would be entitled for a refund only to the extent your clarification/s is/are upheld by the COMEDK academic committee. The refund would be made to the candidate/s account after the COMEDK UGET 2021 process is completed.
