In 1992, Dr. Joseph V.G. founded Garden City Education Trust, with the invaluable support of esteemed educationists such as Prof. Shivarudrappa, former Dean of Karnataka University; Dr. Hanumanthappa, former Vice Chancellor of Bangalore University; Prof. V.B. Coutinho, former Vice Chancellor of Gulbarga University; and Prof. Rame Gowda, former Vice Chancellor of the Karnataka State Open University. The University has received the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for its outstanding quality of education with the highest grade 'A'. In 2013, the Government of Karnataka enacted the "Garden City University Act," recognizing and acknowledging the merits and substantial contributions of the Garden City Education Trust this act received approval from the Governor of Karnataka and was formally published in the Karnataka Gazette. As a part of Dr. Joseph V.G.'s visionary plan, adjacent to the Volvo manufacturing plant a new university campus spanning over 50 acres of verdant greenery is under construction, envisage a 150-acre township encircling Knowledge Parks, IT and BT Parks, Hotels, and Convention Halls, Shopping Malls, and Residential areas.
