The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance exam that is jointly administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. It is a standardized test that is used to evaluate candidates' knowledge and comprehension of a range of undergraduate engineering and technology courses as well as architectural and planning courses. The exam is conducted online only. 30 disciplines will take part in the 2024 examination and each student can even opt for 2 different subjects per the given guidelines by the officials. GATE 2024 results will be announced on 16th March 2024 and will be available on the GATE 2024 Website(https://gate.iitk.ac.in/ ). To apply to each university, candidates for IITs must register for COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) 2024 and fill out a separate application for each one. For GATE, there is no centralized counseling procedure. Additionally, based on GATE scores, state, and private universities do their counseling. For COAP and CCMT (Centralised Counselling for M.Tech/ M.Des) counseling, candidates who will pass the GATE exam must apply individually to be admitted to the participating institutes. It should be mentioned that CCMT counseling is used for GATE admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFITs while COAP counseling is used for GATE admission to IITs.
