The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance exam that is jointly administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. It is a standardized test that is used to evaluate candidates' knowledge and comprehension of a range of undergraduate engineering and technology courses as well as architectural and planning courses. The GATE exam is held on February 03, 04 and 10, 11 , 2024. The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur will host the GATE 2024 computer-based test (CBT).

The GATE exam is a national-level examination conducted in India for admission to postgraduate programs in engineering, technology, and architecture. The exam tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. Candidates who qualify for the GATE exam are also eligible for various scholarships and financial assistance offered by the Government of India. There are various cities across India where the GATE exam will be administered. The exam will be given online utilizing a computer-based testing platform (CBT). Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria set by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) can write the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) exam. The criteria include having a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or Architecture, or a Master's degree in any branch of Science or Mathematics. Some institutes may also have specific requirements for certain branches of engineering.

The exam is conducted online only. 30 disciplines will take part in the 2024 examination and each student can even opt for 2 different subjects per the given guidelines by the officials. The exam helps in providing criteria for post-graduate programs, GATE scores are used as a screening tool for admission to Master's and Doctoral programs in engineering and technology in Indian institutes of higher education, and qualified candidates are eligible for financial assistance during their post-graduation studies. GATE scores are also used as a benchmark for recruitment in public sector undertakings (PSUs) in India, such as Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). GATE qualification can also help engineers advance their careers in the private sector. The exam will improve engineering skills, knowledge problem-solving ability, time management skills, and ability to learn new topics of the candidates.

GATE Application Form

To apply for the GATE exam, follow these steps:

  • IIT Kanpur has announced the GATE exam 2024 registration date. The GATE exam application form 2024 has been open till October 12th. Candidates will be able to fill out the GATE application form 2024. However, candidates can submit the GATE application form 2024 with a late fee till October 20th.
  • Visit the portal (https://gate.iitk.ac.in/ )and complete the GATE 2024 registration process.
  • Fill GATE 2024 application form.
  • Upload scanned images of requisite documents.
  • Pay the GATE registration fee.
  • Preview of filled application form for GATE 2024.
  • Submit the GATE registration 2024.

GATE Syllabus

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance exam that assesses engineering graduates' technical and analytical abilities. 6. Solve Mock Test/ Previous Year’s Question Paper/ Sample Paper: This is one of the essential pointers a candidate should remember as they get ready for any exam. GATE Counselling

GATE 2024 results will be announced on 16th March 2024 and will be available on the GATE 2024 Website(https://gate.iitk.ac.in/ ). To apply to each university, candidates for IITs must register for COAP (Common Offer Acceptance Portal) 2024 and fill out a separate application for each one. For GATE, there is no centralized counseling procedure. Additionally, based on GATE scores, state, and private universities do their counseling. For COAP and CCMT (Centralised Counselling for M.Tech/ M.Des) counseling, candidates who will pass the GATE exam must apply individually to be admitted to the participating institutes. It should be mentioned that CCMT counseling is used for GATE admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFITs while COAP counseling is used for GATE admission to IITs.
