GPAT stands for Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test and is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The exam is held once a year and is a requirement for admission to postgraduate pharmacy programmes in India-M. Pharm. All university departments, constituent colleges, affiliated institutions, and pharmacies that have received approval from the AICTE or the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) will accept the GPAT score. Till 2018 the test was conducted by AICTE but since 2019, it is conducted by NTA.
GPAT exam is a computer-based test with a time limit of 180 minutes and 125 multiple-choice questions. The questions address subjects such as pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analysis, and biotechnology. The exam is designed to assess the candidate's aptitude for postgraduate pharmacy education and their ability to apply their knowledge to solve problems in the field of pharmacy. Candidates who qualify for the GPAT are eligible to apply to various postgraduate pharmacy programs offered by colleges and universities across India. The marking scheme is +4 for each correct answer and -1 for each incorrect answer and there is no negative marking for Unattempted questions. The results are usually announced within a few weeks after the exam. The results are declared online on the official website of GPAT, and candidates can check their results by logging in using their roll number and password. The results are published online on the GPAT website, where candidates can access them by entering their roll number and password to check their scores. NTA plays no part in admissions counseling for the Masters (M.Pharma) programme. Candidates must submit separate applications with their GPAT Score 2023 to each chosen GPAT-2024 Participating institution. Following that, each Participating Institute will announce the GPAT cutoff scores that an applicant must achieve to be eligible for admission to that specific Institution.
