Gurugram Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was founded on April 21, 2006. Through integrated teaching, research, and extension program, the University hopes to promote livestock productivity, health, and disease prevention. The main goal of the courses is to deliver qualified veterinary experts, both at the undergraduate and master's levels who are capable of dealing with livestock health and production issues.
Only the College of Veterinary Science (founded in 1969) was originally transferred from Punjab Agricultural University to Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University. The University has created Colleges of Fisheries, Dairy Science and Technology, and Animal Biotechnology to produce highly efficient and trained human resources to further boost the livestock, dairy, and fishery sectors in Punjab.

GADVASU proffers admission to diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses. 3 bachelor’s with 4 specializations and 6 master’s with 10 specializations are offered at GADVASU.
