IIT JAM 2023

JAM is a Joint Admission test for masters that are conducted every year to provide admission for candidates post-graduate science programs at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and National Institutes of Technology (NITs), organised by alternating institutes. Through this JAM exam, the candidates can seek admission to different Post-graduate programmes such as M.Sc., M.Sc. (Tech), M.S. (R), and Joint M.Sc. -Ph.D., M.Sc.- M.Tech. Dual Degree, M.Sc. - PhD. Dual Degree.

The JAM exam was conducted on February 12, 2023. The administering body of the exam for this year was the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. The exam was organised to provide admissions to over 2800 seats in 90 postgraduate programmes around 21 IITs for the academic year 2023 - 2024.

IIT JAM 2023 Application Process

  • Candidates have to visit the official website
  • Once the website page is displayed click on the JOAPS 2023 Candidate Portal.
  • The registration portal will appear on the screen
  • Enter the required information and click submit.
  • After successfully registering the applicant will receive an Enrollment ID to the registered mail id or contact number.
  • Using the obtained Enrollment ID and password the candidates can login into the application portal.
  • Click on the edit application form option and fill in the necessary details.

IIT JAM Syllabus

The syllabus for IIT JAM 2023 was released by IIT Guwahati on the official website https://jam.iitg.ac.in/. The syllabus provides an understanding of what topics and subjects to be referred for preparation by the candidates. The exam is organized to provide admission into Master of Science (M.Sc.) and other post-graduate science programs. The JAM exam is administered in seven different subjects such as Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematical Statistics (MS), Mathematics (MA), and Physics (PH).

IIT JAM Exam Preparation

The candidates should go through the material and test pattern in detail before beginning their preparation since this will help you carefully organise your preparation timetable. The list of tips that are noted below can help you with your preparation process:

  • Be thorough with the syllabus & exam pattern:Before making a study schedule, make sure you are familiar with the exam format and syllabus.
  • Make a sturdy plan: Study the syllabus clearly and plan your schedule wisely according to the syllabus and set up particular times for each subject, including revision. Make sure you cover every subject. Try not to deviate from the plan.
  • Mock Test: To know how far you have prepared for the exam take mock tests often. As it will help you find the portions that are difficult for you, analyze them, and try concentrating more on those sections.
  • Coaching Institutions: If you find it tough to do self-study. Then opting for a coaching institution would be a great choice. You can access different study guides, test questions from previous years, and receive instruction from qualified experts.
  • Keep track of your progress: Make sure that you don't skip any concepts from the syllabus and evaluate your progress repeatedly. Keep track of the things you have and haven't covered.
  • Don't forget to revise: Aim to spend at least a few hours each day on revising the subject that you have studied on that particular day. Additionally, by revising constantly and attempting to solve previous year's question papers, you will solidify the concepts in your mind.
  • Stop stressing and stay healthy: Take an adequate amount of breaks during the preparation time, consume healthy foods, and adhere to a regular sleeping schedule. To manage your stress, practise yoga or meditation. Instead of spending too much time on your phone during breaks, try engaging in a hobby.

IIT JAM Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for all seven papers of the JAM 2023 exam is announced by IIT Guwahati. The paper will be segregated into sections A, B, and C. The exam will be a computer-based test where the questions will be displayed on the computer screen in random order. The exam pattern includes details about the question paper, including the structure, duration, types of questions, and total number of questions, as well as information about the marking scheme and paper medium. The type of questions asked in each section were different.

IIT JAM Ranking

The rank list for the JAM opening and closing rank was released by IIT Guwahati on June 1 at the official website, https://jam.iitg.ac.in./. The JAM closing and opening rank provides information such as the name of the institutions, discipline, name of the course, program code, and category-wise opening and closing ranks. The applicants who have passed the exam can check the JAM opening and closing rank 2023 on the official website. The JAM participating institutions offer admission to shortlisted candidates based on their closing and opening rank. Hence for the candidates to secure seats they should obtain scores between the closing and opening ranking of JAM.

IIT JAM Counselling

The result for IIT JAM 2023 was released by the Indian Institute of Technology, Guhawati on the official website https://joaps.iitg.ac.in/ on March 21 in online mode. The result of the qualified candidates was announced in the form of a merit list. The individuals who have qualified for the JAM exam should fill in the admission form as a next step. They have to fill in their choice of program and institution in the admission form based on which the candidates will be considered for admission.
