Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) conducts the Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination, or JNUEE, as a national-level entrance examination for admission to the university's numerous undergraduate and graduate programmes. The JNUEE exam is usually conducted in the month of May every year, and the application process begins in the month of March- April. The exam is conducted in online mode, and the duration of the exam is 2 hours.
For 2022 JNUEE is replaced by Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for all UG programmes and a few post-graduate courses- M.A., M.Sc., MCA, MPH, M.Tech., Post Graduate Diploma (it is CUET-PG). Depending on the course and programme the individual is applying to, the JNUEE exam format and syllabus change. The exam consists of MCQ-type questions, and the topics covered include General Knowledge, English Language, Mathematics, Reasoning, and Subject-specific questions. Because of the high difficulty level of the JNUEE test, candidates are recommended to study carefully for it by referring to the official JNUEE syllabus, previous year's question papers, and sample papers.
Candidates are chosen for admission based on their performance in the JNUEE exam, followed by a viva voce or interview for PhD applicants, depending on the course prerequisites. The ultimate selection is determined by the candidates' collective performance in the JNUEE exam and interview, alongside their academic history.

To apply for the university's numerous undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programmes, prospective candidates must first clear the JNUEE. The JNUEE syllabus is comprehensive and caters to a variety of academic fields, including social sciences, humanities, languages, sciences, and engineering. To ensure that only the deserving applicants are chosen for admission to JNU's prestigious academic programmes, the comprehensive syllabus aims to evaluate the candidates' knowledge, analytical capabilities, and critical thinking skills.
The syllabus for postgraduate programmes is highly specialised and tailored to the specific field of study. For instance, candidates applying to social science programmes might expect questions in political science, economics, sociology, international relations, and history. Questions on literature, philosophy, linguistics, and cultural studies may also be asked of students choosing humanities programmes.

In preparation for the JNUEE/CUET, candidates need to thoroughly grasp the syllabus and exam pattern pertinent to the program they intend to apply for. This understanding enables them to devise a structured study plan, emphasizing topics based on their significance in the exam. Candidates must formulate a timetable, allotting sufficient time for each subject, ensuring comprehensive coverage of essential topics and allowing ample room for revision before the exam. Adequate study material, including textbooks, previous year question papers, and reference books, should be procured. To acquaint themselves with the exam's format and difficulty level, candidates should undertake mock exams and solve previous years' question papers. This practice aids in pinpointing individual strengths and weaknesses, facilitating focused efforts towards improvement.

Having a thorough understanding of the JNUEE exam format is crucial to excelling in the JNUEE. The JNUEE exam pattern is designed to evaluate applicants' aptitude, knowledge, and analytical abilities. Depending on the programme being applied for, there are either multiple-choice questions (MCQs) or descriptive questions. The exam is divided into sections, each of which focuses on a specific subject or discipline. Each section may have a different amount of questions but typically has 50 to 100. The exam lasts between two and three hours, giving applicants enough time to attempt every question. Depending on the programme, different marking criteria are used for JNUEE.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Entrance Examination (JNUEE) is a highly competitive exam that not only determines admission to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) but also plays a significant role in determining the ranking and cut-off scores of various courses. JNU uses the JNUEE ranking and cut-off as important criteria to narrow down applicants for admission based on their performance in the entrance test. According to the number of applicants, the level of exam difficulty, and the availability of seats in each programme, the ranking is established by analysing the candidates' overall JNUEE scores. On the other hand, the minimum marks necessary for admission into a given programme are indicated by the cut-off score.

After the announcement of the exam results, the CUET counselling process is conducted. Viva-voice is not held except for PhD, for other UG and PG courses. For UG and PG course candidates will be enrolled based on their performance in the JNUEE/CUET entrance exam.
