Samskrit language development is the main focus of Karnataka Samskrit University. Samskrit has a long, illustrious history in science, literature, and culture. More than Indian scholars have recognized up to this point, it has made contributions to prose, poetry, drama, dance, sculpture, paintings, fine arts, medicine, philosophy, and other related fields. The Karnataka Government put significant effort into founding the institution in 2010. The rulers of Mysore strongly fostered the study of the Samskrit language and literature. Karnataka is home to 31 Samskrit colleges.
The Karnataka state is home to 243 Veda and Samskrita Pathashalas with assistance. The Government of Karnataka formed the Directorate of Samskrit Education to oversee the Samskrit Pathashalas. The Karnataka Samskrit University was founded with the purpose and goal of unifying these under one institution, upholding educational consistency, giving students and teachers more study options, and raising the bar for Samskrit research at the national and international levels.
100 acres of land for the university has been designated in the Ramanagar District's Kuduru Hobli, Magadi Taluk. The university's present affiliations include 9 unaided affiliated colleges, 10 aided affiliated colleges, and 2 component Samskrit Colleges. To handle Pre-university education in Karnataka, it formed the Directorate of Samskrit Education. 354 recognized Samskrita pathashalas from around the state are part of the Directorate.
