MAT Exam Syllabus 2021

AIMA (All India Management Association) does not prescribe the syllabus in particular for MAT exams conducted in any month of the year. The candidates planning or have reregistered for the December session of MAT Exam 2021 are suggested to prepare as per the syllabus outreach asked in the exams of MAT 2021. Candidates can also get an idea and prepare from the past year's question papers.

There is not much variation in the bound of syllabus for CBT MAT exam or PBT MAT exam, except the framing and modeling of questions. Students can refer to some of the popular books for aptitude preparation. The questions are framed from the below mentioned following sections-

1. Mathematical Skill: This section is comprised of extensive range of mathematical topics including basic and core mathematics including Algebra, Vector, Geometry etc. However, the majority of questions are covered from Arithmetic section alone. Some important topics-

Speed, Time & Distance Elementary Mathematics Set Theory
LCM & HCF Height & Distance Linear Programming
Simple/ Compound Interest Permutation & Combination Surds & Indices

2. Data Analysis & Data Sufficiency: This is a very significant section asked in the MAT exam syllabus. This portion of paper checks the ability of data interpretation and analysis within the candidates. 50% of this section includes data interpretation alone and the rest is covered from data sufficiency and comparison. Some of the important topics-

3. Language Comprehension: The major portions asked in this section are- Reading comprehension and Verbal ability. The verbal ability section includes -one word substitution, Idioms/ phrases, Antonym/ Synonym, Jumbled paragraphs, sequence correction etc. The comprehension section includes-

Passage on Abstract & Fiction Passage on Historical Events Passage from Mythology
Business & Economics Passages Passage on Science & Culture English Literature Passages

4. Intelligence & Critical Reasoning: This section can be considered as the trickiest one among all the sections. The syllabus for this section has been revamped from the existing one. It includes-

Passage Conclusion Statement-Argument Blood Relations/ Family Tree
Fact-Interface-Judgment Logical Sequence Quantitative Reasoning
Team Formation Syllogism Analogy/ Assumptions
Series Critical Reasoning Calendars & Clocks

5. Indian & Global Environment: This is the wherein students are asked about the GK, economy & business, current affairs, taxation & duties, Indian constitution, film awards, sports etc. Students can focus on the below mentioned topics for preparation for MAT syllabus 2021 -

  • Conventional GK
  • International Organizations
  • Business, National and international events
  • Politics & social issues
  • Changes in fiscal & monetary policies, CRR, Repo Rate

The above mentioned sub-topics for the sections asked in MAT exams are supposed to provide a comprehensive idea of the syllabus bound and outreach. The question and its types keep on changing year after year.

You can appear for the MAT exam four times a year.
Must have passed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with an aggregate of 50% of marks.
Yes. It has a negative marking of about 0.25 for each negative answer.
No. The Calculator is not allowed to carry during the exam.
A score of more than 400 is considered a good MAT score percentile.
MAT score is valid for an entire year.
There is no age limit to appear in the exam and the candidate must have completed 21 years of age.
