MD Anesthesia

About the Course:

MD or Doctor of Medicine in Anesthesia is a 3-year post graduate programme where students are well trained in practice of Anesthesia, Critical Care, Pain Management, Resuscitation of all acute or acute or chronic conditions.

What is the Course outcome of MD Anesthesia?

By the end of the programme students will be able to:

  • Understand clinical anesthetic practices.
  • Effectively provide emergency trauma care, and gain experience in pain management.
  • Administer drugs that reduce or eliminate chronic pain for patients of all ages.
  • Demonstrate skills in ethical, medical, and legal aspects related to anesthesiology
  • Develop efficiency in laboratory procedures to manage critically ill patients.

MD Anesthesia Admissions in Karnataka

MD Anesthesia Admission Criteria:

  • Candidates should have completed MBBS or any other equivalent subjects like BAMS/ BHMS, etc from any recognized medical institute.
  • They should have scored a minimum aggregate 50% - 55% or equivalent CGPA at the level of graduation.
  • They must completed one year of compulsory rotatory internship.
  • They must also be registered with MCI or any state medical council.

Students should have completed their bachelors from any institutes which is recognized by:

  • An Act of Central / State Government
  • A Gazette notification of Central / State Government
  • Executive orders issued by Central / State Government

For NRI/PIO/OCI:

  • Candidates seeking admission should have obtained their qualification from any recognized board/university.
  • They must have a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years’ duration from a recognized University as per program requirement.
  • Those who are holding foreign degree must be registered practitioners in the country from where they have obtained their degree and also must obtain a temporary registration certificate from medical Council of India(MCI)
  • Those with foreign qualification must submit equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, as per program requirements. for more details on these refer to the official website of AIU: www.aiu.ac.in

Admission Process of MD Anesthesia:

  • Admission is based on merit list of the entrance test.
  • Most of the colleges conduct counseling.
  • Candidates are selected through merit list which will be based on their performance in the exam and the counseling process.
  • Some colleges also accept direct admission.
