Established in 1986 by Anand Social and Educational Trust and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Health Sciences, MR Ambedkar Dental College and Hospital is considered to be one of the best Dental Colleges in Karnataka. The college was established with a view to not only establish high standards in Oral Health Science in the country but also to take Oral Health Care to the doorsteps of the underprivileged population of the country. The vision of Ambedkar Dental College Bangalore is to train a community of competent academicians, clinicians as well as researchers.

MR Ambedkar Dental College boasts of well equipped infrastructure including spacious classrooms equipped with the latest multimedia aids, a library with upto date publications , cafeteria and one of the best student staff ratio with ample clinical material. It also has a well equipped reference library with several journals, books, CDs on dentistry.

Following Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences norms, the academic year commences in July each year and ends in June of the subsequent year. The college offers clinical facilities & PG (MDS) courses in 8 specialties. The clinical section in the Department of Oral medicine is equipped with 18 dental chairs to examine dental patients where 300- 350 patients are examined everyday for oral diseases. The specialty of Oral & Maxillofacial encompasses cosmetic surgery as well as treatment of disorders. The Department of Pediatric dentistry has 33 dental units and offers comprehensive treatment for children upto the age of 16 years. The Department of Conservative dentistry and endodontics is equipped with 46 dental units to treat an average of 60 patients a day. The Department of Public Health Dentistry is responsible for outreach programs and epidemiology.

This huge inflow of patients to each department provides an ample of teaching material to both UG & PG students to further strengthen their skills in their respective specialty.

As per the norms, the BDS student also needs to pass 4 professional examinations at the end of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th academic years. Apart from the 3 internal examinations conducted during the course of each academic year, the student also needs to write the final internal examination at the end of each year before the University examination.

The institution offers graduate and post graduate courses in dentistry recognized by the Dental Council of India.

For MRADC admission, candidates are admitted under the CET, Management quota & Payment Seat categories and allotment is done through the basis of CET & COMEDK. To appear for CET, COMED K, the student should have completed their Pre university Course or it’s equivalent. Necessary documents for seeking admission to the first year BDS program include, eligibility certificate issued by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences , TC & Migration, No objection Certificates as well as X Std , matriculation or equivalent examination marks card for proof of age.
