MUCLET, formerly known as Mumbai University’s law entrance exam, has been replaced by MH CET Law, the current state-level test for law programs across Maharashtra. The test is open to candidates who have completed their 10+2 education or equivalent from a recognized board with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST candidates) and are seeking to pursue a 5-year LLB courses.However for a 3-Year LL.B, Candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university and marks criteria: 45% for General/EWS, 42% for OBC, and 40% for SC/ST.
The test consists of multiple-choice questions which are conducted in English and Marathi, and the duration is two hours. The test is usually held in multiple locations across India, and the results are usually announced within a few weeks after the test. The scores of the test are used by the University of Mumbai and other law colleges affiliated with it for admission to their undergraduate law programs. Generally, the exam is held from April to May and the notification is released in March or April. The application process for the exam is conducted on the official website of the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra and is entirely online.

How to Apply?
MHCET-Law or the MH CET Law syllabus 2025 includes subjects related to Law, Reasoning, General knowledge,and Mathematics. The syllabus for the 3-year LL.B MHCET-Law test includes Legal Aptitude and Reasoning, General knowledge with Current Affairs, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, English language, and Mathematics. Meanwhile, the syllabus for the 5-year LL.B MHCET-Law test also has the same topics except that the mathematics section covers only up to the Class 10 level. The legal aptitude and legal reasoning section in both exams assess a candidate's knowledge of legal principles and their ability to logically apply them to a given set of facts. National and International news, History, Geography, General Science, and Social Sciences are all covered in the general knowledge with current affairs section. The logical and analytical thinking section assesses a candidate's aptitude to analyse information logically.
