The Nilamber-Pitambar University was established on January 17, 2009, and has its headquarters in Daltonganj, now Medininagar, which also serves as the divisional capital of Palamu, Jharkhand. In the faculties of Science, Social Science, Humanities, Commerce, Education, Medicine, and Dental Education, the University offers post-graduate education. University departments work to build students' personalities through teaching, research, and other activities. The constituent and affiliated institutions under the University offer undergraduate instruction in many streams including engineering and law.
The M.B.B.S., B.Sc. in Nursing, and B.Pharm. programs have all received prior approval from the university for affiliation, and the process to provide no objection to start the B.Pharm. program is presently undergoing a detailed review. The establishment of the Board of Studies and the start of the construction of a sprawling campus and large building with administrative and academic blocks that will soon be finished are two notable achievements that Nilamber-Pitamber University has been successful in securing recently. A further achievement is the implementation of the CBCS pattern in undergraduate and graduate programs and courses.
Being a state university, the university is dedicated to carrying out the plans and policies of the Jharkhand State Government to satisfy the people of Jharkhand's desire for higher education. In light of this, the University recently began soft skill-based add-on courses at its constituent colleges for UG and PG students in conjunction with Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) so that their inherent skills can be developed making them suitable for employment. To keep students aware of work opportunities and assist them in their preparation for employment, placement cells, and counseling centers have been launched in colleges and universities.
