Shri Jagadguru Renukacharya (SJR) Education Society started the College of Law on the Society’s campus in July 1963. SJR College of Law is the first private law college established in Bangalore by Prof. Shivashankar. It was established under Mysore University and later affiliated to Bangalore University in the year 1964. The establishment of Karnataka State Law University in the year 2009 helped the institution in gaining affiliation with Karnataka State Law University. It has been recognized by the Bar Council of India in the year 1999.
The College offers several facilities to students, including sound infrastructure and complementary education programs. It is noted, for having one of the best libraries in the country with more than 13,000 books on various aspects of the law.
