BAMS is an undergraduate course offered by the college. The full form of BAMS is Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. The course has all the concepts of modern medicines and students are taught as a part of course curriculum. Ayurveda is considered as one of the oldest form of medicines and its roots are traced from the Vedic times. Panchakarma:
Panchakarma is a Sanskrit word which means “five treatments”. In this course students get to learn the process of cleaning the body from all the toxic materials. These toxic materials may be the substances left by disease, poor nutrition. This procedure purifies the tissues at a very deep level.
Prasuti Tantra and Stree Roga:
Prasuti Tantra and Stree Roga is a specialisation course which deals with women’s health and treatment of gynaecological disorders. Students are trained in Ayurvedic Gynaecology. This course explores the unexplored areas of research in Ayurveda and gynaecology.
Kayachikitsa:
In the word Kayachikitsa kaya means body and chikitsa means treatment. So the students get to learn the various treatments related to body, mind and soul. It deals with deals with general medicine in Ayurveda. It is the basics of all the branches in Ayurveda.
Shalya Tantra:
In Shalya Tantra course students get to learn in-depth principles of modern surgery. The course contains treatment for various injuries even the. The course also includes study of ancient surgical procedures, clinical and surgical applications of various treatments like letting blood through leeches. There is a separate operation theatre and procedure room for students to practice.
Shalakya Tantra:
The Shalakya Tantra is a course which gives knowledge in Netra Roga Vigyana. The course consists of treatments related to certain eye diseases and students are well trained to treat those diseases. The main aim of the program is to make students experts, specialists, physicians, surgeons and teachers in the field of ophthalmology.
