The Department of Commerce St Joseph College was established in the parent college in 1949 and was hived off as an independent college, under the name of St Joseph’s College of Commerce, recognized under Section 2(f) & 12 B of the UGC Act. The College has the distinction of being the first five colleges conferred with Autonomy in Karnataka. It was reaccredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade in the 3rd cycle of re-accreditation & recognized as a “College with potential for excellence” by UGC in 2010. The College is managed by Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society (BJES).

St Joseph’s College was founded in 1882 by the Fathers of the French Mission & the idea of setting up a college of this magnitude was propounded by the vicar apostolic of the Coramandel coast, Dr Bonnand. The wide range of courses offered at this college has been structured very well. The fees for various courses is charged as per the university standards. The different courses offered for the undergraduates and postgraduates varies accordingly. The fees for the BBA and B.Com students in various specialization has been designed accordingly.
