St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, popularly known as SXUK is a Jesuit university that was established on 8 February 2017. The university was established with a desire to deepen human understanding and create an excellent platform for teaching and research and, thus, create a pool of ethically aware and sensitive citizens. On July 10, 2017, the first academic session began with 400 students enrolled in four postgraduate, M.A. English, M.Com, M.A. Mass Communication, and MSW courses as well as two undergraduate B.Com and BMS courses. Today the University is offering a wide range of courses including an MBA, and integrated law courses such as BA LLB (Hons) and B.Com LLB (Hons). St. Xavier's University Kolkata has been ranked #5 in the University category of the NIRF Ranking 2023.

St Xavier's University offers hostel facilities separately to boys and girls. For MBA students, the hostel is residential and all the MBA students will get accommodation in the Hostel. The hostel mess provides both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. The hostel premises are constantly monitored by CCTV and safety surveillance cameras. The hostel rooms are kept clean and safe by a 24-hour housekeeping service.
