The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu established “The Tamil Nadu Dr.J Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University” to preserve, foster, popularise, and promote the traditional system of Indian music, performing arts, and fine arts practiced in Tamil Nadu. This is India's first university to provide music, fine arts, and sculpture programs. The University's Chancellor is the Honourable Ex-Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. The Pro-Chancellor is the Honourable Tamil Development, Culture, and Archaeology Minister. The University offers Postgraduate courses in Vocal, Veena, Violin, Mridangam, Nagaswaram, Bharathanatyam, Painting, and Visual Communication Design.
