Visvesvaraya College of Engineering was established in 1917 by Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya.
It started with 20 students in civil and mechanical branches and now has over 3300 students across 7 different branches.
Earlier the institution was known as Government Engineering College, is the fifth best engineering college in the country and 1st in Karnataka.
The college is affiliated to Bangalore University.
It is one of the few technical college that has been vested the special status of a university.

UVCE Admission Criteria:

For Bachelor’s programme they should have completed 10+2 (with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects) with a minimum 50% and
- Score of CET
For PG programme, they should have a bachelor’s Degree in relevant specialization with 50% marks from a recognized university and
- Score of CET
M.Sc or PhD students need to appear in the test conducted by the Bangalore University.

1. After the announcement of 1st round seat allocation and seat selection by the students, they need to come to the college campus
2. They will have to get application form by submitting:
- a. Admission order issued by KEA
- b. Attested Documents
- c. Online fees receipt of Rs. 12500/- paid through Bangalore University website
- d. Rs. 1500/- additional shall be paid by the students who have passed 12th class at boards other than Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka. (They should pay Rs. 14000/- totally).
