The Central Institution of Himachal Pradesh is an Indian central research university headquartered in Dharamsala. It is now operating from a temporary campus in Shahpur, Kangra district, while two permanent campuses in Dehra and Dharamsala are being built. The institution was established in 2009 as part of the government's policy of establishing Central Universities in those states that did not already have one. Parliament formed the Central University of Himachal Pradesh through the Central Universities Act 2009 (No. 25 of 2009).
NAAC accredits the university with an A+ grade. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has also approved the university. The University Grants Commission funds and regulates the university (UGC). The Central University of Himachal Pradesh, founded in 2010, provides approximately 45 courses in various fields, including sciences, arts, management, technology, business administration, social work, education, hospitality and travel, and many others. Over 130 highly qualified faculty members work at CUHP.
