The Central Institution of Himachal Pradesh is an Indian central research university headquartered in Dharamsala. It is now operating from a temporary campus in Shahpur, Kangra district, while two permanent campuses in Dehra and Dharamsala are being built. The institution was established in 2009 as part of the government's policy of establishing Central Universities in those states that did not already have one. Parliament formed the Central University of Himachal Pradesh through the Central Universities Act 2009 (No. 25 of 2009).
