COMEDK is a standardized multiple choice examinations designed to evaluate the examinees’ problem solving, critical thinking and knowledge of subjects which are required for admission to medical, engineering and dental colleges in Karnataka. Admission officer use the test score as a predictor of a students’ success in college as the exam is designed to test their skills that they will use when they get there. Taking the exam is an important step in the application process, but is one part of the selection process to the college of their interest. Admission committees consider other aspects like academic strengths, personal experiences and interests, personal interview, group discussion.
COMEDK full form is ‘Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka’; it is an association of autonomous institution which is comprised of senior academicians and reputed administrative officers who are long been working in the education department. NEET (National Eligibility -cum- Entrance Test) is a mandatory and only accepted entrance exam for admission to medical and dental courses in the country and following to it COMEDK continues to work in the evaluation process for the members of KUPECA i.e. around 190 Engineering colleges.
This consortium is entrusted with the responsibility to develop and administer exams to determine the merit of students in a fairand transparent process and provide these colleges with common measures for comparing applicants’ qualification and preparedness by KPFC (Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation – Medical & Dental) and KUPECA (Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering Colleges Association). A high score in the exam will have a positive impact on the applicants’ college application.
The syllabus is different for medical and engineering exam; where in engineering test, syllabus will based n Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; for medical entrance exam the subjects candidates will be preparing from will be Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Along with the above mentioned subjects, they need to follow the existing syllabus of 10+2 thoroughly and prepare with dedication, sincerity so as to score the much needed marks in the exam.

Fees of application can be paid through various online methods like credit card or debit card/ net banking/UPI. There will be convenience charge for each month of payment. Applicants are requested to read the above mentioned guidelines in selection of payment before going for the next step. The entrance exam is conducted for merit determination of applicants’ admission in any mentioned colleges and is for use by COMEDK Member Institutions only and other institutions that have been expressly permitted in this behalf. This test score is only valid for admission for the academic year 2020-21. The exam requires more than just an understanding of prior content. Unlike KPCET it is an entrance exam for admission into private affiliated colleges and has proved to be an excellent opportunity for medical, engineering and dental aspirants to be able enrol in colleges and courses of their interest.

The colleges under the consortium include 16 medical, 24 dental and approx 190 engineering colleges. When it comes to higher education, Karnataka is the most sought after destination for students who wishes to study in established educational institutions. When the consortium established in 2004-05, it has been conducting annual entrance exams for UG and PG coursesin the member institutions and has also been organizing single window centralized counselling process over the last 15 years. For its efforts the Hon’ble Supreme Court has mentioned it as the model examination and has also been appreciated by all the Government appointed Admission Overseeing Committees.

For counselling only students who have qualified the COMEDK (engineering) and NATA entrance exam (architecture) are eligible. The consortium will held 2 centralized rounds, 7 sessions and 5 stages which include: Registration, Fee Payment, Choice Filling, Allotment of Seats and Document Verification, of counselling and in these sessions they will be provided with important details regarding the admission in the UG course. They need to register for the counselling round on the official website. Counselling date will be published on September and for the counselling process they will be called according to their rank. The cut off mark will be released before the counselling.
