MAHGU supports transformative reforms in higher education, particularly in Uttarakhand's hilly region. The university designed courses that may be efficiently taught to students in the region. Admission to the Himalayan Garhwal University (MAHGU) courses is based on the marks obtained in the previous qualifying examination. The University conducts an entrance exam, which is followed by counseling or direct admission based on the requirements of the specific academic program.

Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University Admission Criteria

• All programs have limited seats that are released after the Academic Council of the University approves them. Before the commencement of counseling, the number of available seats is displayed on the university's website. Only a limited number of students will be admitted to each academic program.
• Admission to any academic program at the Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, will be based on merit as specified by the MAHGU procedures. (Entrance marks for professional and technical courses, qualifying examination marks). The merit list is prepared on the basis of either entrance or qualifying examination marks.
• The University may conduct its own entrance test, interview, counseling, direct admission, or any other basis depending on the specific requirements of the particular academic program.
• The university may consider/use a list of the results of such examinations/tests conducted by various state/national/professional bodies/boards.
• Merit list prepared of students qualified in MAHGEE followed by GD & Interview MAT/ CAT qualified candidates is also eligible for admissions to MBA program.
• Candidates who meet the necessary requirements and eligibility criteria for any academic program as specified in the provisions, or qualifications recognized as equivalent to either of the eligibility criteria prescribed by the University, will be considered for admission to any academic program.

• Students seeking admission to any of the academic programs are recommended to submit their applications in the required format, which can be obtained for an application fee of Rs. 1000/- from the Admission Cell of Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, and Information centers. (The application can also be downloaded on the University's website at www.hgu.ac.in).
• Before applying for a program, candidates should review the contents of the program and its eligibility requirements.
• The application form should be sent to "The Registrar, Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University, Village Dhaid Gaon, Block Pokhra, District Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, India."
