HITSEEE Ranking

The Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science Engineering Entrance Examination (HITSEE) is a national-level entrance test conducted annually for admission into various B.Tech programs offered by Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), Chennai. After the exam, candidates are ranked based on their performance, and these rankings play a crucial role in determining eligibility for admission and scholarships.

The HITSEE Ranking is generated by evaluating the total score obtained across Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and General Knowledge. Higher scores secure higher ranks, increasing the chance of admission to top branches like Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. The ranking is purely merit-based and is released online shortly after the exam results.

In case of a tie (same score), the tie-breaking is done based on individual subject scores, primarily in Mathematics/Biology, followed by Physics and Chemistry. If the tie persists, the candidate with an earlier date of birth is given preference.

The rank list is also used to determine scholarship eligibility. High-ranking students may receive partial to full tuition fee waivers under the HITS scholarship policy. Additionally, the rank list is required during counseling sessions, where seat allotment is done according to rank and course preference.

Candidates can view their HITSEE rank online by logging into the official HITS admissions portal using their application credentials.

The exam is computer-based, well-organized, and supported by helpful on-site staff. Most candidates find the user interface easy to navigate, with clear instructions and sufficient time to complete the paper.

HITSEE is not just an entrance test but also a qualifier for merit-based scholarships and priority seat allocation. As such, candidates are advised to prepare well in advance and practice mock tests to get familiar with the format.

The rank list is typically published within 1–2 weeks after the exam results are declared.
Yes, separate rank lists are prepared based on whether the candidate appeared for Mathematics or Biology, depending on the course applied for.
During counseling, seats are allotted based on the candidate’s rank, course preference, and seat availability in each branch.
