Founded on January 17, 2009, the Nilamber-Pitambar University (NPU) is based in Daltonganj, now Medininagar, which also acts as the divisional capital of Palamu, Jharkhand. In the faculties of Science, Social Science, Humanities, Commerce, Education, Medicine, and Dental Education, the University offers post-graduate instruction. University departments work to build students' personalities through teaching, research, and other activities. The constituent and affiliated institutions under the University offer undergraduate instruction in many streams including engineering and law.

Nilamber-Pitamber University, founded only a decade ago, is proving to be a world-class learning institution. The university was named after the legendary freedom fighters Nilamber and Pitamber, and it has emerged forth to instill in children a love and enthusiasm for higher education. Its motto "Tamso Maa Jyotirgamaya" reflects its long-term commitment to nation-building, universal enlightenment, and unwavering adherence to truth and human values.
