Osmania University is a public state university in the Telangana capital city of Hyderabad. The university was founded by Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad in 1918. It is India's seventh-oldest university and the third-oldest in South India. Osmania University is a state university with an A+ rating from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)

According to NIRF 2022, OU is ranked 22nd among the top universities in India. The University is ranked 62nd in the overall category in the NIRF 2021 Ranking. In the university category, Osmania University was ranked 32 in the NIRF ranking for 2021, while it was ranked 29 in the same category in 2020.

The University has five constituent colleges: University College for Women, Nizam College, University PG College, Secunderabad, University College of Science, Saifabad, and PG College of Law, Basheerbagh. Osmania University has 12 faculties made up of various departments. Some of them are the Arts Faculty, Business Management Faculty, Commerce Faculty, Education Faculty, Law Faculty, and so on.

Osmania University is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC). The University has collaborated with various institutions such as the College of Defense Management Sainikpuri, ONGC, Dehradun, Mahasarakham University, Mahasarakham, Thailand, and Chief Electoral Officer, Andhra Pradesh to name a few.
