The Maharashtra government founded Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University Nanded, on September 17, 1994. The university serves four districts—Nanded, Latur, Parbhani, and Hingoli—located in the southern Marathwada area of Maharashtra. This university attained recognition, renown, and fame at the state, national, and international levels in the fields of academics, research, innovation, and extension activities in addition to receiving UGC recognition in 2(f) and 12(B). ' a B++' grade with a CGPA of 2.96 was reaccredited by NAAC to the university.
The university comprises 14 on-campus schools, 4 off-campus schools in Latur and Parbhani, a constituent college called New Model Degree College in Hingoli, and research and academic centers like the Women's Study Center at the main campus, the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Chair and Study Center, the Shri Guru Govind Singhji Adhyasan Sankul and Research Center, and the Late Uttamrao Rathod Tribal Development and Research Center at Kinwat. Under its control, the university oversees more than 300 affiliated colleges that provide 146 programs to a student body of 1.63 lakhs.
