Some pros:

  • You won't be in a severely pressurized environment. You can choose to get involved in various activities by your limits. There is enough time to get yourself busy in other activities beyond academics.
  • SIBM Pune culture is being street smart and jugaadu.
  • It's a residential only program at an amazing campus in the outskirts of Pune. This is amazing!
  • They have changed the library rule making it 24 hours. There is also a night canteen which is in a general area where you can sit and work on projects together.
  • The coursework and syllabus have been improved
  • Much better connectivity with Pune and a lot of new things have opened up near the campus.

Cons:

  • It is not a pressurized environment so if you are not proactive your MBA will be too easy which is not a good way to do an MBA
  • Weird library and hostel rules which make working on projects and assignments very difficult
  • Over imposition of Symbiosis University on SIBM Pune.

Symbiosis conducts the Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) test for entry to all of its various MBA programmes and does not consider CAT scores. A minimum of 98.06+ percentile in SNAP is needed to get into SIBM, Pune.

One has to appear for SNAP to get into SIBM Pune. Though the test focuses more on the basics rather than grilling application based questions, one needs to be very good with the basics as it is a time based test. This year, with slight change in the pattern of SNAP, the test might seem difficult, but again, focus on the basics properly. For GK, if it’s not your plus point, try to gather enough info to make it through the sectional cut-off. Needless to say, playing with your strengths is the key to cracking every exam.

A percentile of around 97.5 + makes you eligible to appear for the GE-PI-WAT process.

Regarding the GE-PI-WAT, be a regular reader. Try to develop some opinions and clarity of thought. A proper structure to each of these is the key to success.

  • Step 4: Shortlisted candidates are called for GE-WAT-PI Round from among the candidates who have a valid SNAP score, who have applied for admission to SIBM Pune and who satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme
  • Step 5: Final selection round will be held separately at SIBM Pune campus
  • Step 6: After the GE-PI-WAT round, final admission offers will be made to successful candidates. Admission offer will be based on the weightage awarded to SNAP score, GE, WAT, PI and institute specific marks. Offer letters will be sent to the mailing address provided in the application form as also by email.

Placements: The average package was around 6-7 lakhs per annum and the college hosts MNC’s such as KPMG, P&G, Amazon etc. Those companies sat for the placement process conducted by the college and were all looking for the students who could fit in the managerial roles that they have to offer. 100% of the students got the internship from the college as a part of compulsory credits for the same.

Infrastructure: There are 15 classrooms, 5 each for each year students and there is a library as well as a computer lab present inside the campus. A basketball court, volleyball court, football ground and table tennis tables are also present. The quality of the food is good, and a lot of varieties are available. The hostel facility is available only for girls on a twin or triple sharing basis. They are well maintained and are close to the college campus.

Faculty: The faculty is helpful and available 24x7 to assist us with any of our doubts or other problems that the students might face. Most of the teaching faculty are professors who have PhDs in the streams that they are teaching in. Their teaching methods used are mostly in-class learning with usual projects and outside learning techniques. Every student is given enough industry exposures through industrial visits as well as corporate internships. The course curriculum is very useful.

Overall everything is very good in symbiosis and you can expect a better global exposure, quality education and better placement assistance.
