Central University of Jammu reflects a diversity-focused and progressive higher education institution. Jammu, located on the banks of the Tawi River, is the largest city in the Jammu region. Due to the vast number of historical temples found within the city, it is also known as the City of Temples. The Central University of Jammu was established on August 8, 2011, with the appointment of the first Vice-Chancellor. It was founded by the Central Universities Act, of 2009.
The administrative office of the university is located on the campus in Rahya-Suchani (Bagla), Distt-Samba, (J&K). The university campus covers 610 acres and has a number of notable geographical features, such as a beautiful landscape, academic buildings, etc. The campus is stunning, with architectural harmony and natural beauty. The central library at CUJ was established in 2011 and today it caters to 21 departments. It has a collection of 27,253 books, 50 print journals, 5118 online e-journals, 277 e-books, 15 Magazines, 16 Newspapers, and a remote access facility for accessing subscribed e-resources through INFED. The library has 10 computers for research scholars.
The university is equipped with seamless Wi-Fi connectivity and students can access the Internet through their own laptops from anywhere within the campus. The university also has 3 state-of-the-art ICT labs equipped with high-end PCs installed with the necessary software accessible to the students of all the disciplines.
The university has a seminar hall with a seating capacity of 170 people. Official meetings and other academic activities can be held in the committee rooms.
The university has a spacious canteen where students and teaching faculty can get eatables prepared under hygienic conditions at its campus.
The University Business Incubation Center (UBIC) was set up in the year 2015 under the aegis of the Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship Council sponsored by M/O MSME, GOI to foster a culture of entrepreneurship amongst the students.
The Central University of Jammu provides for students from all over the country. It offers limited accommodation for hostels in rented buildings that are affordable and close to the current setup. Currently, there are two hostels for boys and two for girls. The rooms at the hostel are well-ventilated and furnished with basic facilities.
