The Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU) was established by an act of the legislature (No. 25 of 2004) passed by the Chhattisgarh State Govt. Assembly, vide notification dated January 21, 2005, no. 639/21-A/Praroopan/04, to establish a University and Technology to guarantee an organized, effective, and high-quality teaching of engineering and technological courses, such as architecture and pharmacy at the Research, Postgraduate, Degree.

• University Gold Medal for Distance Education Innovation in 2008
• Academic Excellence in the Construction Industry CIDC Award 2009
• The World Education Award for Best Innovation in Vocational Education and Skill Training was given out in 2011.
• 2011 Education Leadership Award for Innovative Program Design for Motorcycle Technician Skill Training and Certification
• The World Management Congress, Higher Education, and Development Summit presented Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University with the Emerging Technological University of the Year Award in recognition of their various reformative initiatives.
