GMAT Syllabus

To prepare for the GMAT exam, candidates should first check the syllabus of GMAT 2025. The GMAT syllabus for 2025 is divided into three sections: Quantitative Reasoning (QR), Verbal Reasoning (VR), and Data Insights (DI) The GMAT exam has a total score of 805 points. The total number of questions asked and the time limit allotted for each section will differ.

GMAT exam syllabus 2025 - Verbal Reasoning

The GMAT exam syllabus 2025 will include 23 verbal reasoning questions to be completed in 45 minutes.

  • Reading Comprehension : The section will evaluate the candidate's reading comprehension, inference-making skills, and comprehension of the idea or connection between the points in the passage. The passages may be taken from the social sciences, humanities, physical and biological sciences, or industries related to business. The main idea, a supporting idea, an inference, an application, and a logical structure will all be used as the basis for the questions.
  • Critical Reasoning : This section will include multiple-choice questions based on short reading passages of less than 100 words. The questions evaluate the candidate's ability to make arguments, analyze arguments, frame a plan of action, and reach a conclusion.

GMAT Syllabus 2025 - Quantitative Aptitude

The Quantitative Aptitude section of the GMAT exam syllabus 2025 will be divided into two parts: Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving. The section will consist of 21 multiple-choice questions.

  • Data Sufficiency : A problem with a question and two statements will be presented. To answer the questions, candidates must use the data in the statement as well as their understanding of everyday math concepts. They must determine which data is relevant to solve the problem.
  • Problem-Solving : Problem-solving questions will evaluate the candidate's ability to solve numerical problems using logic and analytical reasoning. The questions will be based on fundamental mathematical concepts, with five possible answers.

GMAT exam syllabus 2025- Data Insights

This new section is driven by the growing importance of data literacy in today’s business and economic landscape. Candidates will be assessed on their ability to analyse, translate, and filter data to derive meaningful insights. This section tests data analysis, verbal reasoning, and mathematical skills. Candidates have 45 minutes to answer 20 questions and can use the on-screen calculator.

Data sufficiency, graphic interpretation, and table analysis: Evaluate whether data is sufficient and interpret graphical or tabular data representations.

Two-part analysis and multi-source reasoning: Solve complex problems with multiple factors and extract insights from multiple data sources.

The total exam time is 2 hours and 15 minutes, with an optional 10-minute break in between.
The GMAT consists of three main sections: Quantitative Reasoning (QR), Verbal Reasoning (VR), and Data Insights (DI).
You can take the GMAT up to five times in a year, with a minimum of 16 days between attempts.
