On November 24, 1969, Guru Nanak Dev University was established in Amritsar in honor of the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is both a residential and an affiliating university. The AICTE has accredited the college. According to the most recent placement report for 2023, students were also given six-month internships with the highest salary of INR 80,000 per month.

GNDU admits students to the majority of UG courses based on their performance in the 12th-grade exam. JEE Main scores are considered to decide on GNDU Amritsar BTech admission. All PG programs at GNDU are admitted on the basis of merit or an entrance examination.

Guru Nanak Dev University Hostel

Guru Nanak Dev University provides hostel facilities for students on the University campus. There are 3 hostels each for boys and 4 hostels for girls. The hostel rooms are big, well-furnished, and provided with Wi-Fi. The hostel surroundings are constantly monitored by CCTV and safety surveillance cameras. The hostel rooms are kept clean and safe by a 24-hour housekeeping service.
