The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is a government-funded national law school that provides high-quality education. It was founded in 1987 under the National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986), which was published in the official gazette.
In 1988, NLSIU was one of the first institutions in India to offer a five-year integrated law degree program at the undergraduate level. The University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Bar Council of India both recognize the university (BCI). NLSIU is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and has NAAC accreditation with an 'A Grade.'
And, for over 30 years, the University has legitimately remained a national leader in the field of legal education. This long-standing record has been made possible by strong collaborations between legal academics, the Bar, the Bench, and the Karnataka State Government.
NLSIU began modestly at Bangalore University's Central College Campus before shifting to Nagarabhavi in 1991. The 23-acre campus includes academic buildings with digital classrooms, a cutting-edge library, a moot court, canteens, a health center, faculty quarters, and clean and well-maintained men's and women's hostels. Sports facilities include a well-equipped gymnasium as well as football, tennis, and basketball fields, as well as spaces for academic and community-based activities.

CLAT and CLAT PG scores are accepted by the National Law School of India University for admission to its B.A. L.L.B (Hons) and L.L.M programs, respectively.
