SLAT Entrance Exam

The SLAT (Symbiosis Law Admission Test) is an entrance examination for admission to undergraduate law programs at Symbiosis International University. The test is conducted annually and assesses a candidate's aptitude for the study of law. The exam tests the candidate's verbal ability, logical reasoning, legal reasoning, and analytical ability. The test is typically held in the month of December and the results are usually announced in January. The syllabus gives students a thorough understanding of the law and legal systems as well as the tools they need to excel in the legal field.

Candidates who want to enrol in the B.A. LL.B. (Hons), B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons), B.A. LL.B., or B.B.A. LL.B. programmes provided by institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) must take the common, mandatory computer-based test (CBT). Since 2018, the SET-Law test has been called the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT), which is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across various cities in India.

SLAT Entrance Exam is for those who want to study law and pursue a career in it. Candidates' aptitude and knowledge are tested on numerous topics in the exam, and those who pass can gain admission to some of India's top law schools. SLAT Application Form

To register for SLAT 2026, visit www.slat-test.org and click on 'Register'. Read the instructions carefully and click 'Continue' to accept the Terms and Conditions. Fill in the required details, then click 'Save & Continue' to receive an OTP on your registered email and mobile. Submit the OTP to complete registration and receive your SLAT ID and password. Pay the non-refundable SLAT test fee of INR 2250 and an additional INR 1000 per programme. Both fees are mandatory. Maintain a valid email and mobile number throughout. You may appear on either or both test dates; the higher score will be considered.

SLAT Syllabus

The syllabus is designed to evaluate applicants' aptitude and familiarity with a range of topics related to the study of law. The SLAT syllabus is divided down into five sections: general knowledge, reading comprehension, analytical reasoning,legal reasoning and logical reasoning. The exam has been designed to be difficult yet fair, and each section assesses various aspects of the candidate’s knowledge and aptitude. Candidates who are well-prepared and who understand the SLAT syllabus well are more likely to perform well on the exam and get accepted to some of India's top law schools. Candidates should concentrate on each section and practise frequently to increase their chances of passing the SLAT exam.

SLAT Exam Preparation

Preparing for the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) requires a combination of studying the right material, practising with sample questions, and developing the right test-taking strategies.

  • Students should get a hold of the latest SLAT study material and practice papers and practice regularly.

SLAT Exam Pattern

Symbiosis Law Admission Test is conducted in online mode and consists of multiple-choice questions. The test is divided into five sections- Logical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and General Knowledge and each section carries an equal weightage of 12 marks with a duration of one hour. SLAT exam pattern is designed to evaluate candidates' aptitude and familiarity with a range of topics related to the study of law. The questions are meant to evaluate the candidates' ability to think logically and understand legal concepts and principles. While the General Knowledge section tests applicants' general and current knowledge, the Reading Comprehension section evaluates their ability to understand and analyse written passages.

SLAT Ranking

SLAT cutoff and ranking are significant factors in the admissions process because they determine a candidate's eligibility for admission to the university's law programmes. The ranking is determined by the score obtained by the candidates in the test. Based on the candidates' SLAT results, the university prepares a merit list. Candidates who score higher on the SLAT exam are ranked higher on the merit list and have a better chance of getting accepted to the university's law programmes. The cutoff marks are the minimum marks required for candidates to qualify for admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in agriculture. The number of candidates taking the exam, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats in the relevant courses are some of the factors based on which the cut-off mark is determined.

SLAT Counselling

SLAT 2026 results will be announced on the official website on January 15, 2026. It is important to note that clearing the SLAT is only the first step in the admission process. They will be shortlisted for PI-WAT/ST-PI based on their respective entrance test marks. The Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) Counselling is the next step for candidates who have been shortlisted based on their results. The counselling process is usually conducted by the individual institutes under the Symbiosis International (Deemed University) umbrella. It's important to note that the counselling process may vary slightly between institutes, so it is important to check with the institute that the candidates have applied for the most up-to-date information. Some institutes may conduct a personal interview or group discussion before the final seat allotment.

The SLAT application fee is ₹2,250 for the test plus ₹1,000 per Symbiosis Law School you apply to.
The test is of one hour or sixty minutes.
A candidate's score on the entrance exam is used to determine the candidate's rank in the SLAT test.
