SAARC University Ranking

Proposed by the Indian Prime Minister during the 13th SAARC Summit in 2005, the South Asian University (SAU) was envisioned as a Center of Excellence with contributions from SAARC nations. Prof. Gowher Rizvi of Bangladesh drafted the Concept Paper, endorsed by all SAARC countries, leading to an inter-ministerial agreement in 2007. Led by Prof. GK Chadha, the SAU Project Office was established in 2008. Construction, designed by a Nepalese firm, began in 2014. SAU offers doctoral and master’s programs in seven fields, aiming for 12 faculties and a flagship Institute of South Asian Studies, with recognized degrees and funding from India and SAARC members.

South Asian University (SAU), located in New Delhi, India, is an international institution established by the eight member nations of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
