TNMGRMU Admissions

The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University admission process varies across different courses. For MBBS and BDS undergraduate programs, admission is based on National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scores. Similarly, for MD, MS, and MDS postgraduate courses, NEET-PG scores are essential. Nursing, allied health sciences, and other programs require candidates to pass university-conducted entrance exams and interviews.

Each course has specific eligibility criteria, including educational prerequisites and age limits. Prospective students apply by submitting online forms through the university's official website, and by uploading necessary documents and fees.

There will be four rounds of counseling for MBBS and BDS admissions at TNMGRMU: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Round. Certain courses like MBBS, and MD demand the students to pass entrance exams like NEET UG and NEET PG respectively. While admissions to a few courses are based on the scores in the qualifying exam. Candidates seeking admission to the university must meet the eligibility requirements specified by the university for the requested course.

Application Process:

Prospective students must apply online through the university's official website during the designated application period. The application involves filling out forms, uploading necessary documents (such as educational certificates, NEET scores, and identification proofs), and paying the requisite application fees.

Eligibility Criteria :

  • MBBA / BDS / BAMS / BNYS / BSMS / BUMS / BHMS / B.Sc / B.Pharm / Pharm D / Pharm D (PB) / B.Sc(N) / P.B.B.Sc(N) / BPT / BOT / B.Optom: Candidates applying for a UG program should have passed class 10+2 from a recognized board.
  • MD / MS / MDS / MD(Siddha) / MD(Homeopathy) / MD(Yoga & Naturopathy) / M.Sc / M.Pharm / M.Sc(N) / MPT / MOT / M.Optom: Candidates applying for a PG program should have passed an appropriate UG degree in the same field from a recognized university.
  • DM: Candidates should have passed MD/MS after an MBBS to apply for a DM at Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University.
  • MHA: Candidates applying for MHA should have completed a Bachelor’s degree in the field of medicine.

Undergraduate Programs (MBBS, BDS):

  • Admission to undergraduate medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) programs at TNMGRMU is based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Candidates must qualify for NEET and meet the eligibility criteria set by the university.

Postgraduate Programs (MD, MS, MDS):

  • For postgraduate medical (MD, MS) and dental (MDS) programs, candidates need to qualify for NEET-PG conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Admission is based on NEET-PG scores, and candidates must fulfill additional eligibility criteria specified by the university.

Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, and Other Programs:

  • Admission to nursing, allied health sciences, and other programs is through university-conducted entrance exams and interviews.

Counseling and Seat Allotment:

After the application process, eligible candidates are called for counseling sessions conducted by the university. Counseling involves document verification, seat allotment based on merit and availability, and completion of admission formalities.

Candidates applying for a UG program should have passed class 10+2 from a recognized board.
The TN Medical Selection Committee conducts both online and offline admissions.
