The Al Ameen Dental College Course offers the undergraduate as well as the postgraduate program to the students. The college is providing BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) under the UG curriculum and MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) in oral and Facio-maxillary surgery under the PG curriculum.

BDS:Students enrolled in the UG course have to study the program over the duration of 5 years. The first four years of curriculum is completely dedicated to the academics and learning of subjects through theory and practical. The last one year is fully dedicated for the compulsory internship. The duration of the program is of five years including the one year rotating internship at the end of the curriculum. The examinations are held at the end of year for the first three consecutive years. The later exam is Part1 which takes place after six months in the fourth year followed by the Part2 at the end of the fourth year.

The year wise study program of BDS at this college is-

  • 1st Year BDS: General Human Anatomy, Human Physiology and Biochemistry, Dental Materials
  • 2nd Year BDS: General Pathology, Human Dental Anatomy, General and Dental Pharmacology and Therapeutics
  • 3rd Year BDS: General Medicine, General Surgery, Oral Pathology and Microbiology
  • 4th Year BDS (Part 1): Oral Medicine and Radiology, Pedodontics, Orthodontics, Preventive and community Dentistry
  • 4th Year BDS (Part 2): Prosthodontics, Conservative Dentistry, Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery, Periodontics
  • The last one year is fully dedicated to the rotating internship for the students. The students get to know about the practical ideas behind dentistry. Those who have completed their BDS and want to practice dentistry are required to be registered from the Dental Council of India. This filed has a very wide scope at present and in future as well.

MDS (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery): The college is also running the PG course for the students.The postgraduate is given in Master of Dental Surgery specifically in the oral and maxillofacial surgery and Orthodontics. The candidates who wish to do PG needs to have an undergraduate degree in medicine (BDS) from a university with the recognition of Medical Council of India. The students are also completed with their one year internship program. The MDS course is for the duration of 3 years and it is a career oriented program. There are several specializations avAllable under the MDS curriculum. Some of the other popular specializations in MDS are Periodontics, Orthodontics, Oral medicine & Radiology and many others. The MDS course prepares candidates to be both practitioners and advisory consultants in their chosen areas of specialization.
