BAMS Admission

The Karnataka Government conducts the state-level medical counselling for BAMS and other major medical courses. Applicants who want to get BAMS admission in Karnataka must have appeared for NEET are eligible to take part in this State Level Counselling.

Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of medicine and traces its roots to Vedic times. It is based on the curative properties of herbs and its medicines are known for the natural elements that they contain.

Counselling will be held right after the completion of NEET exam.

BAMS Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates should pass 10+2 or any the equivalent examination from any recognized boards
  • They should score at least score 50% marks in aggregate in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology
  • They should have completed 17 years of age and age should not be more than 25 years of age.
  • They should appear in NEET Entrance exams.

What is the Admission Process for BAMS?

Here are the few steps of the admission process for BAMS

Check Eligibility:

Candidates must pass a Class 12 or equivalent exam from a recognized board that includes science courses (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) and an English core.

The minimum percentage of students required for BAMS course admissions should be 50% to 60%.

Take Entrance Exam:

Appear for National-Level Exam such as NEET.

Await Results:

The NEET entrance exam results will be announced on the respective exam websites.

Participate in the Counseling/Admission Process:

Candidates are required to participate in the counseling sessions held by the relevant state agencies or institutions based on their admission examination scores.

Secure Admission:

At the counseling centers, candidates must go through document verification after being allocated a seat.

Documents Required for Counselling

  • Date of birth certificate
  • NEET Admit card Marksheet and Passing Certificate
  • Aadhar Card
  • At least 5 Recently captured Coloured Passport Size Photo
  • Category certificate (if any)
  • Matriculation (10th) certificate
  • 12th or equivalent exam certificates
  • Rank card
  • Domicile certificate

Admission Procedure for Outstation/ Foreign Students:

  • Interested candidates from other states and foreign students should attach along with the application, an eligibility certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore
  • For foreign students a clearance certificate is needed to be obtained from Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, New Delhi.
  • They need to acquire a no objection certificate from RGUHS, Bangalore, in case of candidates having other qualification not mentioned in the prospectus as equivalent of Karnataka State P.U.C Examination.
  • They need to produce a regular student Visa/ Long Term Visa issued by the office of the DG, Bangalore and a copy of medical screening.

Not all colleges in Karnataka require BAMS Entrance Exam. According to CCIM (Central Council of Indian Medicine), any private BAMS college can avail 15% of total allotted seats for direct admission purposes.

Students’ can apply in the BAMS programme after high school or as a transfer student in any of the Ayurvedic colleges in Karnataka. Ayurvedic colleges bring traditional medical treatment with a modern touch into the classroom and studying here will provide the students with a practical, interactive medical education.

Students will study metaphysical Aspects of Ayurveda, Modern Anatomy, Physiology, Medical Chemistry & Pharmacy, Ayurvedic Pharmacology, Pathology and Diagnostic Procedure, etc after their admission in BAMS Course in Karnataka.

To be eligible for BAMS admission in Karnataka, candidates should pass 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subjects and must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
The age limit for BAMS admission in Karnataka is 17 years at the time of admission.
