Gauhati University is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an ‘A’ grade. In the 2022 NIRF ranking, the university has been placed in the 36th position among the universities. The university is 64th among all the Higher Educational Institutes (HEIs) in the country and placed within 0.88% of all participating institutions.
The university has received NSS Award for the year 2019-20 from the Honourable Vice Chancellor of GU and the Program Coordinator of NSS Cell and was awarded District Green Champion Award for the year 2021-22 for the laudable work for encouraging environment preservation in the campus and in the closeby areas.
The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and affiliated with several colleges in the state of Assam.
