IIFT Preparation

A systematic and focused approach is needed to cover the extensive syllabus and develop the necessary skills for the IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade) exam. The first step in preparing for the IIFT exam is to understand the exam format and syllabus.

How to Prepare for IIFT Entrance Test?

  • Understand the exam format and syllabus: Familiarize yourself with the types of questions asked, the number of sections, and the topics covered in the exam.
  • Build a strong foundation in basic math and English: The exam tests your mathematical and verbal abilities, so make sure you have a good grasp of these subjects.
  • Practice with previous year's question papers and mock tests: These will give you an idea of the level of difficulty and the types of questions asked in the exam.
  • Focus on your weak areas: Identify the areas where you struggle and work on them to improve your overall performance.
  • Time management: Practice managing time effectively during the exam.
  • Keep yourself updated with Current Affairs: IIFT has a section on General awareness which is based on current affairs, so it is important to keep yourself updated with current affairs.
  • Take breaks and stay motivated: Make sure to take regular breaks and stay motivated throughout your preparation.

Paper Analysis

  • Vocabulary, including synonyms, antonyms, and one-word substitutes, dominated the Verbal Ability section. A good attempt at Verbal Ability would have been 8- 10 questions. This year, the Reading Comprehension section had a higher number of inferential questions. Compared to last year, which had a breakdown of 5 and 3 questions, the section's structure changed to 4 questions in each set.
  • IIFT 2023's General Awareness section was of a moderately difficult nature. Both static GK and current affairs questions were asked. There were 7-8 simple questions in it, and the match-the-following questions were likewise simple and could have been attempted. A score of six or more in this part would be considered good.
  • The difficulty level of the IIFT 2023's Quantitative Aptitude part was moderate to difficult. The bulk of questions in this section was from arithmetic and algebra. In the best-case scenario, candidates should strive for a score of 20 to 22 within 30 to 35 minutes.

It is advised to begin your IIFT exam preparation at least 6 to 8 months before the exam date.
Prioritise the questions that you find easier or more confident and allocate specific time slots for each section and stick to the time limits to avoid spending too much time on a single question.
