Integral University was founded in 2004 by the State Government Act Number 9 of 2004. The Indian Medical Council, Indian Pharmacy Council, Indian Nursing Council, Council of Architecture, Indian Bar Council, Indian Association of Physiotherapists, National Council for Teacher Education, UP State Medical Faculty, and Distance Education Bureau have all approved Integral University Lucknow. According to clauses 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act, 1956, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has properly recognized it.
The Medical, Nursing, and Pharmacy courses offered by the University are approved by the Medical Council of India, the Indian Nursing Council, and the Pharmacy Council of India respectively. Also, the physiotherapy courses at the university are approved by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists, and the Education programs by the National Council for Teacher Education ( NCTE ).
Integral University rankings indicate that India Today placed 203rd out of 281 colleges in 2023 and 39th out of 62 in 2022. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranks Integral University Lucknow as one of India's top universities.
The architecture course is recognized by the Council of Architecture and the law courses by the Bar Council of India ( BCI ). The Week ranked the university 60th out of 85 colleges in 2023 and 62nd out of 81 in 2022, with a 2022 architecture ranking of 21st out of 25. NIRF placed it in the 151-200 range in 2022, with a B.Tech ranking of 251-300. Outlook ranked it 48th out of 50 colleges in 2022. IIRF ranked it 38th out of 160 colleges in 2024. The Times of India ranked its B.Tech program 158th out of 175 in 2024.
