PU CET 2023 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is designed to impart knowledge about the question paper structure and format to the participating candidates. It is essential for them to be clear about the exam pattern before starting their preparation as it helps them during the preparation time where they can plan their timetable according to it. The exam pattern provides details about the no of questions asked, the time allotted, the mode in which the exam is conducted, the type of questions asked, the marking system etc. It is the responsibility of the exam-taking candidates to be aware of the exam pattern along with the syllabus to effectively prepare for the entrance exam conducted by Punjab University.

Below the tabular coloum is the exam pattern for the PU CET (U.G)

Candidates must select a suitable subject combination based on the course(s) they wish to pursue and the courses they studied in their 10+2 or equivalent examination. PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology), PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics), and M (Mathematics) are the available combinations. The subject choice will be important in determining eligibility for certain courses and aligning with academic and career desires.

  • The medium of the question paper will be English.
  • The participants will have to mark the answers on the OMR sheet. While marking the answers you should strictly follow the instructions mentioned in the Question Booklet and the Answer-sheet to avoid discrepancies later.
  • In the examination with multiple-choice objective-type questions, negative markings will be applied. For each incorrect answer, 25% of the scores will be deducted. Candidates will receive two marks for each correct response to a question. However, each incorrect response will result in a 0.5-point deduction. This method assures that applicants must be cautious while answering questions and avoids random guessing.
  • Until the time allotted for the exams is over the students will not be allowed to leave the examination hall even if they complete the paper.
  • Once the time allotted to complete each paper is over the candidates have to hand over both the answer sheet and question booklet to the Invigilator.
  • For any subject/paper, the candidates will not be allowed to use their calculator instead the university will provide a logarithmic table. Borrowing or carrying of log table will be not entertained.
  • Rough work can be done on the space provided only to do rough calculations other than the rough column nowhere in the OMR answer sheet rough work should be done.
  • All responses to the questions must be attempted on the specified OMR answer sheet by the candidate. Any responses scribbled on the question booklet on a separate piece of paper will not be evaluated. During the review process, only the questions answered on the provided OMR form will be considered. It is critical to follow this guideline to guarantee that all responses are accurately recorded and scored.
  • Candidates are not permitted to remove, rip, or take any part of the Question Paper or OMR Answer Sheet from the Examination Centre. Such activities result in automatic rejection from the entire Entrance Test
  • For the visually handicapped/ Person with Disability (PwD) for each paper 20 minutes extra will be given.

The minutes provided to complete each subject paper is 70 minutes.
For each correct answers, two marks are given.
The no.of questions asked in each subject is 60.
