PU CET 2023 Ranking

The entrance exam conducted by Punjab University for Undergraduate courses will prepare the merit list based on certain components set by the university. The merit list determines the candidate's chance of getting admission to the university. The components that are considered in preparing the final merit list are as follows first the CET merit with a weightage of 75 %, second the applicant's 10+2 or equivalent merits with a weightage of 25 % and last the over and above weightage of NCC, NSS, etc.

The following formula is used to calculate candidates' total merit points:

Total Merit Marks = 0.75 * CET Percentile Score (P) + 0.25 * PCB or PCM Percentage of Marks (Q) + Other Activity Weightages

  • P denotes the CET percentile score, which is the result of the Common Entrance Test. Q is the percentage of marks gained in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) or PCM (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) subjects in 10+2 or similar exams. When calculating Q for courses that accept both PCM and PCB candidates, a higher percentage of the two will be applied.
  • Any extra points or weightages acquired from participation in activities such as NCC, NSS, and so on would be added to the total merit scores. These weightages will be determined using the previously described Q component.
  • Furthermore, any extra points or weightages acquired from participation in activities such as NCC, NSS, and so on would be added to the total merit scores. These weightages will be determined using the previously described Q component.
  • The total number of merit marks will be rounded to three decimal places. Any changes to the 10+2 qualifying examination marks or the weightages for other activities would have an immediate impact on the student's total merit marks. As a result, the merit list will be modified to reflect the changes in the candidate's position.

The selection process for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics under the Hons. School System (CBCS) is based on two factors:

CET Mathematics (X1) marks: The marks received in the Common Entrance Test (CET) for Mathematics will be calculated out of a possible 120.

Marks in the +2 Examination (Y1): The total marks received in the 10+2 examination will be converted to a scale of 40. The formula for this conversion is Y1 = (Marks Obtained / Total Marks) x 40. The result has been rounded to two decimal places.

To determine admission merit, sum the scores from the CET Mathematics (X1) and the +2 Examination (Y1). The total merit for admission will be out of 160.

The merit list will be published on the Punjab University official website.
The merit list will be determined based on the weightage of the entrance exam,10+2 examination and NCC, NSS.
