UCEED Exam 2026

The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is an entrance examination for admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programs offered by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur. The exam determines the aptitude of the candidate in design thinking, problem-solving, and communication. It is conducted once a year, usually in January, and is a computer-based test consisting of multiple-choice questions. The UCEED score is valid for one year only. The admit card of UCEED will be issued at https://www.uceed.iitb.ac.in/. The UCEED 2026 exam is scheduled to be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The official notification will be released on October 1, 2025.

UCEED 2026 is open to all nationals ( Indian/ Foreign). The candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor’s Degree program in Design (BDes) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad IITH, IIT Roorkee (IITR), and Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing Jabalpur (IIITDMJ), must apply for UCEED 2025. Candidates should note that the appearance in UCEED 2025 or being on the rank list neither assures nor provides any automatic entitlement to admission to the BDes programs of the participating institutes. The exam is considered highly important as it is a gateway to some of the most prestigious design programs in the country and can open up many opportunities for candidates.

Although UCEED 2026 is hosted in numerous locations around the nation, the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is the organizing institute and manages UCEED 2025 as a whole. It is now made crystal clear that the High Court of Bombay alone shall have the sole authority to consider and resolve any claims or disputes that may arise concerning UCEED 2026. UCEED 2026 results will be used to determine admission to the B.Des program offered by participating institutes and the current intake is 245 seats. Scoring high in the entrance exam will create a huge impact on the candidate's university application. Hence focusing on scoring well while preparing for exams is suggested.

UCEED Application Form 2026

  • Candidates appearing for UCEED 2026 should register at https://www.uceed.iitb.ac.in/. The registration could be done through the online registration portal only.
  • Candidates should fulfill all the eligibility criteria to attend the exam. The eligibility criteria can be divided into 3 parts which are 1. Age limit, 2. Number of Attempts, 3. Qualifying examinations. If the candidate fails to fulfill any one of the eligibility criteria the registration stand is canceled. The registration is neither transferable nor refundable.
  • It is the complete responsibility of the candidate to provide accurate information about the qualifying examination and category and upload valid and proper documents in the required format while registering. If the registration form is found incomplete the form gets rejected and is considered invalid.
  • If any information submitted by the applicant is found to be false or the registration is not complete, the accepting institutes have the authority to reject the applicant's admission at any time in line with their current rules and regulations.
  • If all the eligibility criteria are fulfilled the candidate can then pay the application fees and obtain the online application to the examination.

The fee structure for the UCEED 2026 is stated below:

The fee is non-refundable and must be paid online during the registration window. A late fee of ₹500 applies for submissions made after the regular deadline.

Candidates with OCI/PIO cards issued before 4 March 2021 are treated as Indian nationals for fee and seat allocation purposes.

Those with cards issued on or after that date are considered foreign nationals and eligible only for supernumerary seats, capped at 10% of total intake.

UCEED Exam Preparation

Here are a few steps that'll help you crack your UCEED examination.:

  • Make a plan: Start the preparation with a plan on how to study and when to study. Planning is important since it’ll helps you stay organized.
  • Practise Free Sketching: At times certain types of equipment are restricted in UCEED, so learn to practice sketching with basic materials. This will help you in the “B” part of the exam.
  • Go through Comic Strips: check out a few comic strips online or in the newspaper every single day because it will help you understand the format and the art of storytelling through your drawings.
  • Time Management: Plan out a timetable in a way that you will be able to cover all the important areas of the syllabus and also which carries high weight with the given time for preparation. Go through the syllabus and see how much you have covered, divide your time according to that, and prepare.
  • Practice Mathematical Geometry: Since a few mathematical geometry-based questions are also asked in the exam, you must practice them to perform exceptionally well in this section. You will have to keep aside a few hours a day to practice these types of questions.

UCEED Exam Ranking

UCEED is a national-level entrance exam that stands for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design. The exam is organized by the Indian Institution of Bombay. The eligible candidates will be given a rank. The eligible candidates are the ones who have qualified for the exam. The candidates will be shortlisted by evaluating their performances in Part A and Part B. Then a rank list will be generated based on the candidate's total scores obtained in the UCEED. The candidate who has secured the minimum required marks will be shortlisted for the next counseling process.

UCEED Counselling

The candidates can find the results on the official website www.uceed.iitb.ac.in/. Use your user id and password created during the registration process for viewing the results. You can download your Score Card on the website itself on March 10, 2025. After the results are announced the qualified individuals should participate in the counseling process to finalize their admission to their desired college. During the counseling process, the candidates should submit their admission form, seat allotments will take place and the candidates have to make confirmation of their seats and make payment.:
