VIT Vellore Admission

VIT University Vellore was founded in the year 1984 with the aim of providing quality technical education that meets international standards. The University is currently headed by Chancellor, Dr. G. Viswanathan who is its founder and a former Parliamentarian and a Minister in the Government of Tamil Nadu. VIT came to be declared as a university in the year 2001 after the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development conferred it upon the college.

The UGC or the university Grants commission played an important role in establishing the college as per section three of the Act of 1956. VIT is a self financing college. The college has made it priority to continuously focus on adopting innovative methods to improve the education quality. VIT has one of the most culturally diverse campuses in the entire country with students coming from all parts of the world.

Vellore Institute Of Technology has been under the leadership of one of the best technical and managerial minds in the entire country. VIT has set new benchmarks in the fields of research and teaching. The institute is among the best private technical colleges in the country.

The college has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with various international universities and is considered as one of its biggest strengths. The college also provides faculty and student exchange programmes and also encourages joint research projects intended for mutual benefit of these universities. Many VIT students who pursue their research projects at foreign universities are a part of high quality works.

Admission to B.Tech programmes:

All VIT Vellore Admission to B.Tech courses are purely based on the VITEEE scores. VITEEE is the common entrance test to into VIT Vellore. The exam attempts to test Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology, English and Aptitude of students. The test consists of 125 multiple choice questions. Questions are required to be answered in two and a half hours. Selection of candidates is based on the ranks obtained through an offline counselling process at Vellore campus.

Eligible candidates will be allowed to select specific Programmes during the counselling programme.

Eligibility to B.Tech Programmes:

Nationality:

  • The applicant should be a Resident / PIO/ Non Resident Indian National.
  • Foreign Candidates studying abroad can apply only through the foreign category.

VITEEE Entrance Exam

Age Limit:

Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after 1st July 1998 are eligible to apply for VITEEE-2023. The date of birth as recorded in the will be considered authentic. Candidates should produce High School / SSC / X certificate in original as a proof of age of candidate at the time of counselling.

Qualifying Examination:

  • Candidates appearing for the VITEEE in 2023 should have secured a minimum of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology in the qualifying examination for+2 or Intermediate.
  • The average marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology (PCM / PCB) in their twelth standard or its equivalent put together should be a minimum of 50% for Candidates belonging to SC/ST category, hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh, The North Eastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.

Subject Eligibility:

  • Candidates who have opted for (Maths / Physics/ Chemistry / English / Aptitude) MPCEA in the VITEEE are eligible to apply to all B.Tech. Programmes.
  • Candidates who have opted for BPCEA(Biology / Physics/ Chemistry / English / Aptitude)in the VITEEE are eligible for the following Bio stream programmes only. After joining, registering Mathematics as a bridge course is compulsory:
    • B.Tech. Biotechnology
    • B.Tech. Computer Science and Engineering with specialisation in Bioinformatics
    • B.Tech. Electronics and Communication with specialisation in Biomedical Engineering

Admissions to M.Tech programmes:

The entry into M.Tech these programmes occurs by successfully getting through the VITMEE examination that is conducted each year.

Eligibility to M.Tech Programmes:

Nationality:

  • The admission applicant needs to be a Indian National and also should have graduated from colleges located in India.
  • NRI/ PIO or Foreign applications must apply separately.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates need to have graduated with a full-time degree from a recognized Institute/University scoring a minimum of 60% or First class for their B.Tech degree programmes.
  • Candidates appearing in their final semester exam or final degree exam in the current year are also eligible to apply.
  • Applying candidates should have completed their year end exams / final Semester before the selection counselling begins at VIT. The candidates should produce the final year marks statement and their provisional degree certificate before the date given by the college.

Students have to pass the VITEEE entrance exam to get admission.
The applicants should have passed 10+2 with an aggregate of 50% marks.
