GPAT Preparation

GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test) is a national-level entrance exam for admission into various postgraduate pharmacy courses in India which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is crucial to understand the exam format and syllabus to effectively prepare for the GPAT exam. The duration of the exam is 3 hours which consists of 125 multiple-choice questions. The questions are divided into five sections, namely, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Allied Subjects, Pharmaceutics & Allied Subjects, Pharmacognosy & Allied Subjects, Pharmacology & Allied Subjects, and other subjects. The total mark for the exam is 125 and the syllabus will be prescribed by AICTE.

Here are some tips for students to help them prepare for the GPAT exam:

  • Before starting the preparation, candidates need to understand the exam pattern thoroughly. Knowing the exam pattern will help them to plan their preparation accordingly.
  • It is crucial to know the syllabus for the exam thoroughly. They should know about all the topics and subtopics for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects.
  • Once candidates have a clear understanding of the exam pattern and syllabus then they should create a study plan that suits their schedule. The study schedule should include time for revision, practice, and solving mock tests.
  • Practice mock tests regularly as it will help them in the preparation level. It will help them understand the type of questions asked in the exam, and as a result, they can work on their time management skills.
  • Candidates should solve previous year’s question papers to get an idea about the difficulty level of the exam and to identify the frequently asked topics.
  • Choose books that are recommended by coaching teachers (if they are taking coaching classes) or school teachers. Candidates can also refer to online study material and videos available on various educational websites.
  • They should ensure that they clearly understand the basic concepts of each topic. Candidates shouldn’t just mug up the formulae and theories but understand the logic behind them.
  • Candidates should revise the topics regularly to ensure that they don't forget what they have learned.

The difficulty level for GPAT 2022 according to the test takers was moderate. For many Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics was the easiest paper.

GPAT 2021

According to the students, the overall difficulty level of the GPAT 2021 exam was moderate to tough. The Pharmaceutics section was reported to be the easiest. The Pharmaceutical Chemistry section was moderately difficult.

Overall the GPAT exam evaluates the candidate's knowledge of pharmacy concepts and practical application skills. It's essential to understand the concepts and continuously practise the material to perform well on the exam. During the exam, it's also crucial to use time effectively and answer every question with accuracy.
