Biotechnology: The institution in 2002 started a biotechnology program. Apart from the UG course, the department offers two PG programs: M. Tech in Biotechnology and M. Tech in Bioinformatics. Students get an opportunity to conduct innovative projects. The biotechnology department has highly experienced guides for Ph. D and the placements of the biotech students exceed 95% every year. The department is ranked as one of the top 4 Biotechnology Schools in India and has grabbed the first position in Infrastructure according to the survey made by the leading Biotechnology magazine, “BioSpectrum,” 2010 issue.

Chemical Engineering: The department of Chemical engineering started in the year 1982 to meet the requirements of the emerging discipline of Chemical Engineering and those associated with it. The department also offers an M. Tech program. Over the last 3 years, 70% of the students have been placed on campus. CSIR Labs and educational institutes such as N.A.L, Bangalore, I.I.P, Dehradun, IISc, Bangalore and IIT Bombay are the renowned companies that provide training and guidance to students of this institution.

Civil Engineering: The department of civil Engineering started in 1964 with the UG program and two PG programs in Structural Engineering and Highway Technology. It is one of the oldest branches of the institution. The department has been imparting quality education to meet the present scenario of technological advancement and industrial requirements. The department is also involved in research and development and is a recognized research center under VTU.

Computer Science & Engineering: The department of Computer Science and Engineering started in 1984. The prime vision of the department is to deliver graduates and postgraduates with strong fundamental knowledge in Computer Science and Engineering. The department has a fine infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment and software tools.

Electrical & Electronics: In 1963, RV College of Engineering started the Electrical & Electronics department. The department has a well-qualified, highly experienced, and dedicated staff. Most of the faculties are engaged in path-breaking research and development. The course is a healthy amalgam of Power Engineering, Electronics, and Computers; comprehensive and in keeping modern trends of Electrical and Electronics Engineering education.

Electronics & Communication Engineering: The department of Electronics & Communication Engineering started in 1972 with one UG, two PG programs and a Ph. D program under VTU. The postgraduate program includes the specializations in VLSI Design & Embedded Systems and Communication Systems. To support research across the specializations, it has an excellent infrastructure. Along with that, the department has MOU with various leading industries like Texas Instruments, Samsung Semiconductors, Free scale Semiconductors, NXP Semiconductors, Intel, Agilent and research establishments like Department of Sericulture, Government of Karnataka.

Industrial and Production Engineering: The department of Industrial and Production Engineering established in 1985 and affiliated to Bangalore University. The department offers a four-year UG program with a focus on industrial and production engineering. The curriculum focus switched over from traditional business practices to contemporary Engineering & Managerial interventions. The department houses a research center recognized by VTU, which enables aspirants to-actively engage in research pursuits in the contemporary areas of Industrial Engineering and Management such as Supply Chain Management, E-enterprise Modeling, Change Management, Applied Ergonomics, Energy Management Human Resource Management, Lean Manufacturing System and Manufacturing Technology.

Information Science & Engineering: The department of Information Science Engineering is the hub for innovation through Teaching, Research, Development, and Consultancy, making the department a global resource center in advanced, sustainable and inclusive technology.

Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering: In 1981, RV Engineering College established the department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. To its credit, the department has a PG Program and an established Research Centre affiliated to VTU. NBA, New Delhi, has accredited the Department multiple times. The Department has been imparting quality technical education with a blend of research components in line with the institutional vision. The department has also been grooming students continuously in all facets of creative learning, technical competency, character building, and overall personality development. Highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty members are the forte of the department. It has a consistent placement record in premiere companies.

Master of Computer Applications: In 1997, RV College of Engineering Bangalore started the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course. The department has the credential achievement of being the first PG program under VTU to be accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi. The milestones of the department also include its recognition as a VTU Research Centre.

Mechanical Engineering: The department of Mechanical Engineering started with an autonomous status. The Research and Development Centre was established in 1986 with affiliation to Mysore University. Department of R&D is involved in sponsored research, consultancy, testing, and characterization along with offering MS and Doctoral Programs. The department started M. Tech programs under VTU in Product Design and Manufacturing, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Machine Design and Tool Engineering in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008, respectively.

Telecommunication Engineering: The focus of this department is to deliver graduates & post graduates with strong fundamentals in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. The department started a PG program in Digital Communication in 2013 and started another PG program in Radio Frequency & Microwave Engineering. The department focuses on research projects in the areas of Image Processing, Networking, Wireless communication, System design, and RF communication.
